The Sir John M. Templeton Fellowships Essay Contest is available to undergraduate and graduate students under the age of 35. You must compose an essay between 1,500 and 5,000 words addressing the quote by Frederic Bastiat: "Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget the state wants to live at the expense of everyone." The Byron Hanke Fellowship is available to graduates who are enrolled in an accredited master's, doctoral or law program and are working on topics related to community associations. Projects may address management, institutions, organization and administration, public policy or architecture, as well as political, economic, social, and intellectual trends in community association housing. The Foundation is especially interested in substantive papers from the social sciences, which place community association housing within political or economic organizational models. Center for the Study of the President Internship

Description
The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CPSC), a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in Washington, DC, offers unpaid internships for undergraduate and graduate students during the spring, summer and fall terms. Center internships offer motivated students the opportunity to learn first-hand about the international and domestic issues confronting the American Presidency in a small, fast-moving DC think tank.
Internship applicants must maintain a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will be a college junior or senior or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in the Presidency and U.S. government policy. Students in all majors are welcome to apply, especially those studying political science, history, international relations, economics, business, medicine or science policy.While interns are assigned a primary project to work on during their time at the Center based on their experience and qualifications, they also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Center activities and operations during their internship. Professional responsibilities may include:
  • Working with experienced policymakers and former government officials;
  • Conducting research and writing to support policy analyses and other Center projects;
  • Helping organize meetings with Presidential scholars, former White House staff, and former National Security Council officials; and
  • Assisting with conferences, publications and public relations outreach.
Applications are accepted at any time; however, applications received by the deadline are given priority. Due to the volume of applications received, the Center will only contact those whom we have selected for interviews.

It is preferable that interns work Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., when the Center's offices are open to gain the maximum experience and be truly integrated into the Center's projects; exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

For nearly fifty years, the Rockefeller Foundation has hosted scholars, creative artists, and practitioners at Bellagio for concentrated work on major projects. Talented professionals use time at Bellagio to advance work that has impact across disciplines, while interacting daily with an active and diverse intellectual community. Artists and scholars stay for one month of work at Bellagio, away from their usual daily demands, and flexible schedules are available for practitioners working at non-profit or NGO organizations. Collaborative residencies are available for applicants working on a joint project.

The various disciplines under which an applicant may apply include the following:

Applicants from outside the United States and Western Europe are especially encouraged to apply, as are individuals working on projects aligned with the Foundations objective to expand opportunities for poor or vulnerable people.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

The Bellagio residency provides room, board, and high-speed internet access to all residents free of charge. Please note that financial assistance can be made available to successful applicants whose limited means might otherwise prevent them from accepting a residency.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process for Bellagio is very competitive, and will ultimately favor professionals with significant experience and strong project proposals. The Bellagio opportunity is not a grant, but rather a time to interact with a professional community while working toward tangible personal achievement.
